What they’re saying

I just want to share with you a few thoughts and feelings that I wrote down when I was reflecting on the wonderful time I spent in Grand Junction last week for AG&AG Sniper School!
I'm so thankful for this "girls getaway." This is not your average get away. For adventure-seekers and/or for someone who wants to feel more comfortable around handling guns, like myself - THIS is the place to be! I had so much fun and knew I was in the right place when the first thing that was said to me when I arrived was a joke, and my classmates were welcoming and warm. It was a small group of about a dozen women, and we were surrounded by an accumulation of highly intellectual, funny, patient, and compassionate firearms instructors.
I felt like I was in good hands all the way through. Each instructor brought their high level of expertise, experience, energy, and encouragement to the table for us. I noticed that there was so much attention to detail in this curriculum and individual needs were met on the fly, which made this retreat even more special!
It was an emotional moment for me to hit the 2,003 yard target with Russell Anthon as my spotter/instructor. It made all the pre-videos and classroom learning (the science and physics of accuracy and precision) all so worthwhile. Learning from experts like him makes this investment completely worth it. Russell has the skills, the expertise, the persistence, and the gift of teaching. Not everyone has that combination of gifts. And I don't think I would have learned this much or hit the >1 mile target without him.
[Russell... and me holding the shell I shot that hit 2,003 yards, the moment right after I hit my target! I had happy tears in my eyes. 🥲]
All the hard work I put into it (catching up on the videos after class), leveling up a hundred yards at a time, and the competitions were all fun and games. One of my favorite parts was making our own ghillie suits with Miles, concealing our faces with camo colors, and hiding ourselves out in the mountainous terrain as a sniper, while the other half of the group tried to find us with their binoculars. It was arts and crafts + dress up time. I basically became a creative gardener and a kid again in that moment, and it was a lot of fun. I now have a greater appreciation for snipers in how much thought, energy, creativity, and time goes into the art of concealment.
The weather changed day by day, from hot, sunny 95 degree weather, to overcast, rainy, or thunder lightning storms as our backdrop, which allowed us to turn our classroom learning into a first-hand experience in how different types of weather can affect the ammo, our rifle, and our shooting.
A month ago, I joined AG&AG specifically to go to Sniper School, and that alone was totally worth it. What I didn't expect was to meet women from all over the country, who have the same passion/interest be so welcoming and kind. I will never forget their faces, especially Sandra's gentle demeanor and smiley face, which made me feel more comfortable being there on my solo journey. :) I look forward to seeing them again, and meeting more men and women around the country to learn, grow, and share in our passion for shooting.
I'm so glad I did it. I'd do it again.
I'm ecstatic!
Thankful for Robyn and Sandra, AG&AG, Defenders USA, Cameo, and my classmates for making this a special and an unforgettable experience.

P.S. My eyes have been trained and I will never see the same again. Now that I'm home, I notice things differently, like the direction in which flags are flying and the movement of trees, estimating the wind speed, and wondering how many MILS that would be, so I can calculate unknown distances. 😂
Feels so good to come home and have been exceptionally trained to exceed my goal! Image removed by sender. Emoji
And Cameo is so big. It's like Disneyland for shooters! 😆
